Our History
2022
The French group Veolia became indirectly the controlling shareholder of IAM. The subsidiary Aguas Andinas completed its international rating process with Standard & Poor's, obtaining an A- rating, becoming the first non-state-owned corporate company in Chile to receive the highest international rating. The non-regulated subsidiary Gestión y Servicios changed its name to Hidrogística.
2021
A collaboration agreement was signed between Aguas Andinas and the irrigation associations of the first section of the Maipo River to maintain the sustainability of the basin. The subsidiary Aguas Andinas won the XII Environmental Innovation Award (RIGA, 2021) in the Best Social Management Project category for its City Sentinel project.
2020
The Pirque mega reservoirs began operating, increasing the autonomy of Santiago's water system to 34 hours. The subsidiary Aguas Andinas sold 100% of its participation in Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios de los Lagos S.A.
2019
IAM integrated index S&P IPSA, main stock market indicator of Trade of Santiago. IAM and Waters Andean integrated the dow again Jones Sustainability Index Chile. waters Andean issued for the second year consecutive a bonus green and social
2018
The Aguas Andinas biofactory Aguas Andinas received the Impulse for Change for Change Award in the in the planetary health health category, from the United the United Nations. 2017
Once again, IAM together with Aguas Andinas were selected to be part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile. Aguas Andinas inaugurated the world’s first biofactory in the world for the water utility sector which converts waste into resources.
2016
For the second consecutive year, IAM and Aguas Andinas were both selected to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile.
2015
IAM and its subsidiary Aguas Andinas enter the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile, the Santiago Stock Exchanges’ first sustainability index, which included 12 companies in the country
2014
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas achieved the best historic rate for a long-term bond placement, which demonstrates the market and investors’confidence in IAM’s management of its sanitation companies.
2013
The company through its sanitation subsidiaries began the operation of its Mapocho plant in 2013, thus complying with its commitment to handle all the sewage generated by the people of the Metropolitan Region. This places Santiago at the level of the world’s most developed countries in sanitation.
2012
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas was also awarded the ICARE prize of Best Company of 2012, one of the most prestigious awards given in the country and which reflected its serious and successful management.
2010
June 2010: Suez Environment indirectly acquired 75.01% of the share capital of Agbar, making it the new controller of the company.
2008
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas acquired a 53.5% shareholding in Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios de Los Lagos (ESSAL), a sanitation company whose concession zone is in the regions de Los Lagos and de Los Ríos in the south of Chile, thus giving the Aguas Group a 42.5% market share at the national level.
2006
IAM sold 1.1% of its shares in Aguas Andinas, preserving its control of the sanitation company with a 50.1% shareholding. The following year, the Company launched an ADR Level 1 program which permitted its shares to be traded on the American over-the-counter market and open up the ownership of the Company to all kinds of shareholders.
2005
July 2005: IAM was transformed into an open corporation and restricted its corporate purpose to the investment in the shares of Aguas Andinas and the provision of advice, consultancies and services related to the transfer of technology and know-how, technical assistance, business and project management, especially those related to the management and operation of businesses related to sanitation. In November of that year, IAM became listed on the stock exchange through the placement of a block of shares representing 43.4% of its capital, which resulted in the incorporation of new shareholders and Agbar remaining as the only controller with a 56.6% shareholding.
1999
May 19, 1999: Inversiones Aguas Metropolitanas, IAM, was constituted as a limited partnership by the companies Agbar and Suez Environnement in order to take part in the privatization of Empresa Metropolitana de Obras Sanitarias, EMOS S.A., today Aguas Andinas S.A. IAM was awarded the block of shares in the international tender carried out by Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO), and then subscribed for a capital increase and acquired additional shares on the stock exchange, thus taking control of Aguas Andinas (ex EMOS) with a 51.2% shareholding.
2016
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas enhances its corporate strategy in line with its vision of being a leader in sustainability in Chile
2015
IAM, as well as its subsidiary Aguas Andinas, are selected to join the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile, the first sustainability index of the Santiago Stock Exchange, composed of just 12 companies.
2014
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas achieved the best historic rate in the Chilean Capitals Market for corporate bond issuances for terms longer than 20 years.
2013
Thanks to the operation of the new Mapocho sewage treatment plant, Aguas Andinas completed its Sanitation Plan for the Santiago Basin, achieving a 100% coverage of residual water treatment in the Metropolitan Region. The Ariete Plan began in the subsidiary, which seeks to introduce improvements for handling emergencies.
2012
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas was also awarded the ICARE prize of Best Company, one of the most prestigious awards given in the country.
2011
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas started up its Customer Strategic Plan, PEC, to consolidate its service culture.
2010
Aguas Andinas’s Clean Urban Mapocho project was inaugurated, a bicentenary landmark for the country. IAM was awarded second place in the 15th annual contest for Chilean corporate annual reports 2010 organized by Diario Estrategia and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
2009
The IAM subsidiaries completed the updating of the SAP platform which enabled them to apply IFRS accounting standards.
2008
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas took over Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios de Los Lagos (ESSAL) with the purchase of a 53.5% shareholding. The subsidiaries Aguas Cordillera S.A. and Aguas Los Dominicos S.A. were merged.
2007
An ADR Level I program was implemented, permitting the trading of IAM shares in the American over-the-counter market. The ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 certifications were renewed making Aguas Andinas the first sanitation company in Chile to receive this tri-certification of its sanitation facilities.
2006
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas obtained the ISO 9001 certification of the new customers incorporation process.
2005
IAM became listed on the stock exchange through the placement of a block of shares representing 43.4% of its share capital. Aguas Andinas obtained the OHSAS certification for occupational health and safety. The Talagante sewage treatment plant started operations.
2004
The Valdivia de Paine and El Monte purification plants were inaugurated. Aguas Andinas obtained its ISO 9.001 certification of billing, receipts and collections.
2003
The La Farfana sewage treatment plant started operating, the largest of its type in Latin America. Aguas Andinas obtained its ISO 9000 certification for customer attention.
2002
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas acquired the remaining 50% shareholding in Aguas Manquehue. New sanitation plants at San José de Maipo and Paine started operations.
2001
The El Trebal treatment plant started operating. The subsidiaries Anam and EcoRiles were constituted, and the subsidiary Aguas Maipo changed its name to Gestión y Servicios S.A.
2000
The subsidiary Aguas Andinas acquired a 100% shareholding in Aguas Cordillera and 50% of Aguas Manquehue.
